Bahamas Paradise is an important player at the Port of Palm Beach. As of Thursday afternoon, the port’s website had not yet been updated to reflect the sale of Grand Celebration. It’s been anything but fantastic for the cruise industry since the start of the coronavirus outbreak.
Booking Travel to the Bahamas
Bahamas Paradise Cruise Line, known for its quick, inexpensive trips to the Bahamas, has sold one of its two cruise ships in yet another indicator of the economic calamity brought on by the coronavirus pandemic. In November 2020 was unofficially announced that the cruise ship has been sold for scrap metal. On January 2, 2021, the 34-years-old cruise liner arrived and anchored off Alang, and on January 14th was beached for scrapping. At the aft end of the Paradise Deck (Deck 9), there’s the Indulgence Spa & Salon, which offers treatments like aromatherapy, body scrubs, and massages as well as services for hair, nails, teeth, and waxable areas.

The luxurious spa and wellness center offers amenities you’ll find on shore; massages, mani/pedi, and beauty services. The pool deck offers the splashing entertainment with two pools and Jacuzzis to accommodate swimmers. More than 60 percent of Grand Celebration’s 751 guest cabins have an ocean view, giving most of the ship’s 1,800 potential passengers a loving look of the Atlantic from the comfort of their own room. But it’s the suites on Deck 11 where you imagine past godmothers retiring for the evening.

And while no escape can compare to one of proactive relaxation, the Sun Deck at the other end of the ship comes close. Here, comfy deck chairs and larger, private pods surround a large, elevated 10-person hot tub. Serene music sets the perfect mood, with a magical design that somehow keeps the steel-drum liveliness of the nearby La Piscina pool from colliding with the tranquil. There is perhaps no bigger bang for your extra buck than a dinner here. Grand Celebration sails two-night cruises that leave from the Port of Palm Beach every other day, making it easy for potential passengers to schedule. If work is getting you down, it also means you can call in sick, take a cruise and be back in the office before your boss even knows you were gone.

The ship can accommodate up to 1,200 passengers, and with seven passengers decks, there are lots of places to go, things to do and fun to be had. The cruise ship had 7 musical venues, multiple lounges, 5 swimming pools and whirlpools, wellness center, 3 shops, 3 kids' areas. Legends Theater (850-seat show lounge) features a large stage and rotating cocktail chairs with tables for drinks. It spreads across 2 decks and has large porthole windows covered by curtains. The signature production shows change every 8 weeks, but include performances of American hits with many costume changes, plus variety acts that feature acrobats, comedians, magicians.

The Ocean View Buffet – A complimentary buffet located on Deck 10, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and late-night snacks. For a limited time, Complete Reservation Solutions is offering a COMPLIMENTARY 2-Night Cruise for 2 Guests to Grand Bahama Island to introduce new travelers to our cruise line! Most people of course ask us why we would do this when we’re already the best getaway cruise to the Bahamas for 4 consecutive years. The ship was built as the Celebration in 1986 by Kockums Varv in Malmö, Sweden for Carnival Cruise Lines. She remained in their fleet for over 20 years until she was retired in April 2008. She underwent an extensive refit and re-entered service with Carnival's subsidiary, Iberocruceros, as the Grand Celebration in the summer.

The Grand Celebration was sold for scrap in 2020 with her sister ship, MS Holiday, precipitated in part by the COVID-19 pandemic.[1][2] A third sister ship, the MS Jubilee, was last operated by HNA Tourism. Some (family staterooms) accommodate up to 4 passengers via Pullman / rollaway beds. Ocean View Buffet is the ship's main buffet restaurant with panoramic window seating and contemporary, furniture. This cafeteria-like restaurant has a centrally-located buffet station and doesn't have additional food stations.
The complimentary Kids Club offers supervised aged specific activities. A kids' pool, toys, videogames, parties and a small theater are just some of the features, while a jungle gym and gaming consoles keep older children happy. Teens will want to hang out at an arcade room with board games and more. The Yellow Elder – The main dining room, is complimentary and was named after the national flower of the Bahamas. A portion of The Yellow Elder will also offer MyTime Dining for those who prefer flexible dining times. There are 18 wheelchair-accessible cabins, of which 2 Terrace Suites. The ship has all 14 cabins with balconies - all in the Terrace Suite categories. Entertainment onboard Grand Celebration is impressive in its own right, and we felt there was plenty to do for such a short sailing.

The Classica is slightly smaller than the Grand Celebration, with space for 1,680 passengers vs. 1,800. The Celebration, built in 1987, first pulled into the port in January 2015, replacing the Bahamas Celebration, which ran aground in Freeport on Halloween weekend in 2014. The cruise line, which has operated two ships at the port since 2018, stopped cruising in March. Before being sold to the scrappers, the 1,800-guest ship also sailed for two other cruise lines. If thoughts of formal nights or snooty suite passengers make you cringe, you'll feel right at home on Grand Celebration. This is truly a ship for carefree relaxation and fun in the sun. In June 2008 the boat was renamed to "Grand Celebration" and transferred to IberoCruceros (Carnival Corporation-owned brand). In November 2014 it was transferred to Costa Cruises (as "Costa Celebration") after Carnival terminated the Ibero brand. However, on November 21 (departure scheduled as Maiden Voyage for Costa), Carnival announced the vessel's sale (to an undisclosed buyer).
A central stairway serves as a focal point and leads to deck 9 where dining options, including A Slice Above and The Grand Café, are located. My wife and I just returned today from our 2 day cruise package to Grand Bahamas. Our largest concern in selecting this particular cruise was the cruise ship itself, The Grand Celebration, due to it's age (30+ years). The ship was in great shape...super clean, and the entire crew and staff were super friendly, courteous and helpful. The ship accommodates approximately 1500 guests but we sailed with 300 guests. This made embarkation, debarkation, dining, drinking at the bars and excursions a breeze.
